EOPYY (the Greek National Organization for the Provision of Health Services) proceeds with the plan for the rationalization of payments from the Organization to the health care (HC) providers, in cooperation and with the assistance of the Ministry of Health, states an EOPYY press release.

More specifically, a payment schedule is implemented to pharmaceutical companies and hospitals:

  • Already via the special schedule for the settlement of outstanding debts of the General Administration agencies to third parties, the amount of 270 million euros ($306 million) has been disbursed to the Pharmaceutical Companies.
  • From September, additional payments by EOPYY will proceed for the settlement of outstanding debts to pharmaceutical companies and to other HC Providers, thus reducing by the respective amounts the debts of the Organization.
  • As regards the State hospitals and the Special Regime Hospitals, EOPYY has proceeded or scheduled payments of 166.5 million euros ($188.6 million) in August 2016.
  • In parallel, the clearance of filings by the HC Providers of EOPYY continues. More specifically, until August 24, 2016, payment warrants had been issued for filings of expenses for January-February-March for various categories of HC Providers.
