The real story in Chile is about access to medicines, says the first woman heading its pharma association

Marta Diez (pictured above) is the first woman president of Cámara de la Innovación Farmacéutica (CIF), a group representing 23 pharma multinationals with a presence in Chile.

She is the country manager of Pfizer (NYSE: PFE) Chile, and her experience in pharma has seen her work across therapy areas including infectious diseases and pain management, and allowed her to get to know overseas markets in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

This CV made Mrs Diez a strong choice for the two-year role of representing the pharmaceutical industry in Chile, but the fact that she is the first woman to be chosen inevitably grabbed some headlines.
