Earlier this month, Jiao Hong, Commissioner of the National Drug Administration of China (CNDA), met with the visiting deputy Secretary General of the United Nations and the executive director of the UNAIDS Program, Michel Sidibe, and his party.
Mr Sidibe congratulated the establishment of the CNDA and praised the achievements made by the Chinese government in drug regulatory reform. He said that only 3% of the medicines consumed by 1.2 billion of Africa's population came from Africa. China has a huge capacity for drug production and relatively perfect drug regulatory system. China and Africa have a huge space for cooperation in the fields of drug trade, technology transfer and localization of production, said Mr Sidibe, adding: “We hope that through cooperation, the high quality medicines produced in China will be moved to the global market, especially in the developing countries.”
