Shionogi has entered into a collaboration with Nagasaki University in the field of infectious diseases, focused on malaria, which will see the establishment of the Shionogi Infectious Disease Division at the university’s Institute of Tropical Medicine.
The project will seek to accelerate and facilitate drug discovery research for malaria, and aim to create an innovate novel drug based on the findings from the studies.
Over the next five years, researchers will look at the life cycle of malaria parasites and the host defense mechanism, which are essential for diagnosis and treatment.
