USA reports ongoing IP challenges as China extends drug exclusivity period

For the 14th consecutive year, the USTR has put China on a ‘priority watch list' on its annual analysis of countries’ adherence to standards governing intellectual property rights.

The USTR, or Office of the United States Trade Representative, submits its annual report to the US Congress as part of its responsibility for developing and advising on the country’s trade policy.

The report notes, “Longstanding and new IP concerns merit increased attention, including China’s coercive technology transfer practices, range of impediments to effective IP enforcement, and widespread infringing activity.”
