In the USA, the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) has awarded $5.5 million to the Blumberg Institute to research treatments for yellow fever.
The incurable infectious disease is transmitted by infected mosquitoes and represents a significant health threat for many people in tropical climates.
Some people who develop an infection will suffer from severe disease, with half of those people dying as a result.
