The British government has confirmed the post of Life Sciences Minister will now be shared by two politicians working across separate departments.
The role was vacated by George Freeman two weeks ago, sparking concerns the industry could lose a vital advocate in the forthcoming Brexit negotiations.
Mr Freeman was widely praised by key pharmaceutical and biotech figures for his achievements during his two years in the role.
