The United Arab Emirates (UAE) ranks first regionally in attracting multinational pharmaceutical companies, writes The Pharma Letter's local correspondent.
In 2022, UAE was ranked first among all countries in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region in attracting multinational companies (MNCs) in the field of the pharmaceutical industry, with a total number of 92 marketing offices, employing more than 3,000 employees, along with a foreign direct investment value of around $817 million.
These offices support cooperation with health regulatory authorities to provide new medicines in the whole country immediately after approval in their reference countries. They also contribute to the national economy development through the inflow of foreign direct investment (FDI), which induces changes in the country's industrial structure and promotes economic development.
