The State Fiscal Service of Ukraine (DFS) within its jurisdiction supported the proposal of the trade association APRaD (the Association of Pharmaceutical Research and Development in Ukraine) and the American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine for the establishment of the Interdepartmental Working Group on combating illegal trafficking of drugs in Ukraine.

This is stated in the DFS official answers to joint questions from APRaD and the Chamber on “inquity” [injustice] to the government of Ukraine concerning the illegal import and sale of counterfeit drugs and medicines of dubious quality in Ukraine.

The main tasks of the Interdepartmental Working Group on combating illegal trafficking of drugs in Ukraine should be a strengthening of management and control over the import, distribution and on-line trade of medicines of unknown origin and dubious quality in Ukraine. APRaD and the Chamber consider that this working group should consist of representatives of all the interested authorities that implement the state policy in the field of quality control and safety of medicines, including medical immunobiological preparations, medical equipment and medical devices, and trafficking of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and precursors, combating its illegal trafficking, as well as members of the Parliament, representatives of member-companies that produce pharmaceuticals and other stakeholders.
