Sums paid to Irish doctors and health institutions by pharma uncovered

Payments which the pharmaceutical industry made to doctors, hospitals and other aspects of Ireland’s healthcare framework have been laid bare by a new investigation.

Irish newspaper The Sunday Business Post revealed that pharma payments to the country’s doctors totalled 6.8 million euros ($7.5 million) in 2015, while healthcare institutions received 10.7 euros from the industry.

The report also stated that dozens of medical and nursing posts in Irish hospitals are being funded by the sector, which is paying almost one-third of the country’s most senior public sector doctors.
