Output of the biomedical manufacturing cluster in Singapore grew 44.9% year-on-year in December 2016, according to the latest report from the Island State’s Economic Development Board
The pharmaceuticals segment expanded 53.8% with higher production of active pharmaceutical ingredients and biological products. For the whole year of 2016, the biomedical manufacturing cluster grew 13.6% compared to a year ago.
Singapore's total manufacturing output increased 21.3% in December on a year-on-year basis. Excluding biomedical manufacturing, output grew 16.1% year-on-year, said the EDB in the press release. On a seasonally adjusted month-on-month basis, manufacturing output increased 6.4% in December compared with the previous month. Excluding biomedical manufacturing, output rose 3.6%.
