Santeon and MEB exchange info about prescription of medicinal products

30 January 2017

In the coming year, the Netherlands’ Medicines Evaluation Board (MEB) and hospitals affiliated with Santeon will exchange anonymous information about prescription of medicines in top clinical hospitals.

Santeon collects this information for the seven Santeon hospitals, which may provide the MEB with valuable insights on use and experiences with medicines in daily practice. For instance, the information may be of use to find other solutions in the event of a possible medicine shortage.

Santeon is a cooperative venture between seven top clinical hospitals and aims to improve medical care through continuous innovation. One such effort is the creation of the Pharma Database, containing information on all the medicines issued in the affiliated hospitals. Through this database, the hospitals want to ensure more efficient use of medicines.
