Sanofi Pasteur, the vaccines division of French drug major Sanofi (Euronext: SAN), has joined with the Ukrainian pharmaceutical company Farmeks Group to initiate production of Sanofi’s vaccines in Ukraine.
Manufacture will take place at the Max-Well plant in the Kiev region, and is expected to provide the annual demand for vaccines in Ukraine during the scheduled vaccination period, which is fully subsidized by the state and intended for children under the age of 18. Initially, the plant is expected to perform only the final stage of production and packaging of drugs.
The names of vaccines to be produced at the plant were not disclosed but, according to local analysts, these will be primarily vaccines against the flu and other seasonal diseases.
