The Russian government is considering introducing a three-stage procedure for the public procurement of drugs, according to recent statements of an official spokesman of Denis Manturov, Russia’s Minister of Industry and Trade.

The new procedure involves the provision of the biggest preference during the tenders to those drugmakers which use the domestic substance in their production, reports The Pharma Letter’s local correspondent.

During the second stage, preference will be given to the domestic drugmakers (as foreign producers will not be able to participate in the tender in the case of at least two proposals from local producers), while the third will involve the participation of all the bidders.
