Russia set to see significant growth of drug prices in 2019

Prices for drugs in Russia may rise significantly as soon as the beginning of 2019, according to recent statements by an official spokesman of the Russian Pharmacy Guild, a public association, which unites Russian leading pharmacies and some local drugmakers, reports The Pharma Letter’s local correspondent.

Analysts expect the growth of prices will be in the range of 15%-20%, while the main reason of this will be weak rouble and generally low purchasing power of local customers.

It is predicted that the biggest growth will be observed in the case of imported drugs. At the same time prices will also grow for locally-made drugs, as some of their components, particularly active ingredients, are still imported into Russia.
