Russia is facing with a new wave of drugs’ shortages and interruptions of supplies due to the ever-tightening sanctions regime against the country and logistics issues, reports The Pharma Letter’s local correspondent.
So far, the Russian authorities have warned of a shortage of drugs in pharmacies - the delivery of some drugs amid the increased demand may be delayed. According to representatives of Russian pharmacies and distributors, there is currently a serious shortage of various drugs from different price categories and market segments.
The government, however, explains the current situation by logistical issues and long holiday periods. In addition, as senior Russian state official have recently reported, 90% of the missing drugs can always be replaced with other drugs, including domestic ones.
