The US companies represented by trade group Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA) invested an estimated $58.8 billion into research and development (R&D), according to the latest survey of its members.
That’s a 10.3% rise from 2014 and is nearly $19 billion more than 10 years ago, an increase of 47.4%.
The R&D data is based on findings from the 2016 PhRMA annual member survey released in the 2016 Biopharmaceutical Research Industry Profile, and highlights the impact of the 31 PhRMA member companies on the economy and biopharmaceutical innovation.
