Some 500 jobs are to go at US pharma giant Pfizer’s (NYSE: PFE) UK site in Sandwich, Kent.
This amounts to more than half of the 940 personnel employed at the Discovery Park facility, as the company closes its pharmaceutical sciences small molecule (PSSM) operations at the site.
Scientific and administrative positions will be cut, with reports claiming that these roles are likely to moved to other sites in India and the USA.
