OPKO and Entera team up on oral obesity candidate

18 March 2025

US biotech OPKO Health (Nasdaq: OPK) and Israeli firm Entera Bio (Nasdaq: ENTX) have entered into a collaboration to develop an oral GLP-1/glucagon dual agonist tablet for obesity, metabolic conditions, and fibrotic diseases.

The companies aim to submit an application to the US Food and Drug Administration later this year to begin clinical testing for OPK-88006, a naturally occurring hormone.

OPKO is pairing the compound with Entera’s N-Tab technology to enable oral delivery. Unlike most GLP-1/glucagon agonists in development, which are injected, the program is advancing as a once-daily tablet.
