A survey carried out by Swiss drug major Roche (ROG: SIX) has shown that frontline staff believe patient care is suffering as a result of cancer capacity challenges in the NHS.
Chemotherapy services are being stretched to the point at which patient care is impacted, according to the 85% of oncology pharmacists and 75% of oncology nurses who said they felt low capacity is having either some or a significant negative impact on patient care.
Improvement looks unlikely, according to those surveyed, as 90% of nurses and 78% of pharmacists expect their chemo units to experience capacity issues in the future.
