Novartis halts Phase II study of LTP001 in idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis
Novartis (NOVN: VX) has discontinued an early Phase II trial of LTP001 in idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). The company confirmed that the decision was not related to safety, with no issues emerging in the study.
The Swiss drugmaker originally initiated Phase II trials of LTP001 in both pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) and IPF in 2022 and 2023, respectively.
However, the PAH trial and an extension study were halted earlier this year. The decision to cease the IPF study marks the latest development in the company's strategic realignment.
