Merck & Co announce data from study into investigational CV drug anacetrapib

New Jersey-based Merck & Co (NYSE: MRK) has announced results from the REVEAL study of anacetrapib, an investigational cholesteryl ester transfer protein (CETP) inhibitor.

The data, published in the New England Journal of Medicine, show that the therapy was able to reduce the risk of major coronary events by 9% relative to placebo.

The difference in the key secondary composite outcome of major atherosclerotic events (myocardial infarction, coronary death or presumed ischemic stroke) did not reach statistical significance.
