Leading global pharma companies call on governments to help fight AMR

More than 80 leading pharmaceutical and diagnostics companies have joined forces to call on governments around the world to work with industry in the fight against drug-resistant infection.

Companies including Novartis, Pfizer, Merck, Johnson & Johnson, GlaxoSmithKline and Roche signed the ‘Declaration on Combating Antimicrobial Resistance,’ launched today (January 21) at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

The signatories call on governments to develop new economic models to support their vision, which is outlined in three main areas: reduce drug-resistant bacteria through appropriate use of new and existing antibiotics, increase investment and collaboration in research and development, and improve access to high-quality antibiotics.
