Key policy improvements needed as Australia's new Parliament gets back to business, says trade group

Medicines Australia chief executive Brendan Shaw has welcomed the formation of a new federal government and said Australia’s pharmaceutical industry looks forward to working constructively with all political parties in the new Parliament.

His comments come after several weeks of political  paralysis given the indecisive results of the general election that took place on August 21.

“To their credit, parliamentarians from all sides have managed the rare occurrence of a hung parliament very well to date, but with the formation of the new government there is now a need to press on with some key medicines and industry policy issues,” the head of the trade group stressed.
