US health care giant Johnson & Johnson (NYSE: JNJ) has started work on its model research center in Canada support start-ups with lab space, programs and potential investment partners.
The research facility is set to open in early 2016 and is being built in collaboration with the Ontario Government, University of Toronto, and MaRS Discovery District (MaRS). The facility will be called JLABS @ Toronto.
Brad Duguid, Minister of Economic Development, Employment and Infrastructure, said: “JLABS @ Toronto will support researchers and entrepreneurs across the province and accelerate the development of Ontario companies while connecting Toronto to potential Johnson & Johnson collaborators and investors.”
