Even as US President Barack Obama is slated to be the chief guest at India's Republic Day Parade on January 26, action has revved up behind the scenes with the readying of the draft of the national Intellectual Property Rights policy, reports The Pharma Letter’s India correspondent.
The aim of the national Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) policy is to establish a dynamic, vibrant and balanced IP system in India that would foster innovation and creativity in a knowledge economy, and accelerate economic growth, employment and entrepreneurship.
Given the ever-growing IPR disputes with the USA, the draft framework has been prepared by an IPR think tank set up in November by the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP).
