The fight against malaria received a shot in the arm with a range of research organizations bonding together on a common platform in a bid to eliminate the disease from India by 2030 through shared research agenda and resources, reports The Pharma Letter’s India correspondent.
The Malaria Elimination Research Alliance, a branch of the Indian Council of Medical Research, has been set up to prioritize, plan and scale up relevant research in malaria and bring down the number of cases with the target of eliminating this vector born disease by 2030 in India.
India ranks very high in the list of countries with a serious malaria burden. In 2018, 399,134 malaria cases were reported in the country, according to data from the National Vector Borne Disease Control Program.
