After years of uncertainty stemming from the UK’s departure from the European Union (EU), Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has confirmed that, from Thursday onwards, British scientists can apply once again for grants from the £85 billion ($106 billion) H|orizon program.
Horizon Europe is the EU’s framework program for research and innovation, the largest of its kind in the world. UK participation in its predecessor Horizon 2020 and earlier programs was guaranteed by the UK’s membership of the EU, which ended in early 2020.
