Governments must 'act now' to meet target to cut cancer deaths

“With just under 10 years left to meet the target of reducing premature deaths from non-communicable (NCDs) diseases by 25%, governments and policy-makers must act now to ensure equitable access to services to allow people to live with and survive cancer.”

Those were the words of Tezer Kutluk, president of the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC), at the World Cancer Leaders’ Summit (WCLS) which is taking place in Paris this week.

Around 250 health leaders and cancer experts from around the world have gathered at the event to discuss and influence global strategy for cancer control.
