The US Attorney's Office in Philadelphia has charged five people including two former researchers at UK drug major GlaxoSmithKline (LSE: GSK) of scheming to steal trade secrets from the company with the intention of selling them in China.
The charges include conspiracy to steal trade secrets, theft of trade secrets and wire fraud.
According to the document filed by the Justice Department, Yu Xue and Lucy Xi were scientists working at GSK’s research facility. The defendants engaged in a scheme to steal trade secrets related to GSK research data, procedures, and manufacturing processes for biopharmaceutical products, according to the statement.
