Ned Sharpless, the man tasked with filling the shoes left by the departed US Food and Administration (FDA) Commissioner Scott Gottlieb, is just getting his feet under the desk.
Dr Sharpless joins the agency from the National Cancer Institute at the Institutes of Health, where he served as director from 2017.
Prior to this, he was director at the University of North Carolina Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center, where he specialized in the care of patients with hematologic cancers.
