FDA report finds major action needed on drug shortages

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has published a report entitled Drug Shortages: Root Causes and Potential Solutions.

This report was commissioned following a request from Congress last year in response to shortages in the USA, and involved a team of FDA economists and scientists analyzing drugs that went into shortage from 2013 to 2017.

The FDA also sought input from industry, academics and other actors to gain further insights into the issue.
