Britain’s Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) has approved a new indication for Merck & Co’s (NYSE: MRK) heart drug Ezetrol (ezetimibe).
Ezetrol is now indicated to reduce the risk of cardiovascular (CV) events in patients with coronary heart disease (CHD) and a history of acute coronary syndrome (ACS) when added to ongoing statin therapy or initiated concomitantly with a statin.
In a separate announcement, the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) has issued its Technology Appraisal Guidance (TAG) for Ezetrol.
