ESMO 2020: data show severe impact of COVID-19

At this year’s annual congress of the European Society of Medical Oncology (ESMO), taking place virtually, there is a strong focus on evaluating the impact of the novel coronavirus on cancer care.

Research to be discussed at the event shows that mitigation measures, such as lockdowns and cancelations, have created “a huge backlog in oncology care and research,” while oncologists face “burnout.”
