The European Medicines Agency (EMA) has reinforced its commitment to help combat antimicrobial resistance (AMR) to mark European Antibiotic Awareness Day (EAAD) 2015.
AMR is one of the most serious public health threats globally with infections caused by multidrug-resistant bacteria estimated to kill 25,000 people every year in Europe alone.
In a three-pronged approach, the EMA stresses the importance of developing new treatments, promoting responsible use of antibiotics and collecting robust data to inform public health policies.
