The European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations (EFPIA) and its specialist group Vaccines Europe (VE) have highlighted a series of statistics to show progress being made in vaccinating the world against COVID-19.
One of the findings presented in an EFPIA infographic is that COVID-19 vaccine production outpaces doses administered despite the complexity of manufacturing and the extensive testing and quality control that takes place.
According to the EFPIA, using economies of scale, screening of many potential production sites and voluntary licensing agreements, the number of COVID-19 vaccines produced, at 12.1 billion by January 2022, has consistently outpaced the number of vaccines being administered, which numbered 9.2 billion by January 2022.
