US biotech company Celgene (Nasdaq: CELG) took a practical approach to raising awareness of psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis (PA) during the annual meeting of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology (EADV) in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, last week.
The company invited representatives from patient organizations and media outlets for a workshop chaired by UK-based GP and TV presenter Dawn Harper. The attendees were treated to three short scenes, performed by talented actors, to demonstrate the true cost of living with psoriasis and PA. The scenes focused on father and daughter Daniel and Maria, who discussed the burden of their disease, from being unable to unscrew a bottle and being too tired to play sport because of PA, to Maria’s embarrassment over her skin when swimming or choosing clothes.
