Data disaster casts cloud over BioXcel's Alzheimer's agitation results

BioXcel (Nasdaq: BTAI) has presented positive top-line results for TRANQUILITY II, a Phase III trial of BXCL501, its orally dissolving film formulation of dexmedetomidine under investigation for the acute treatment of Alzheimer’s disease-related agitation.

But the US biopharma lost more than 60% of its market value during Thursday morning’s trading.

The reason for the market’s mutinous reaction was an issue relating to the reporting of safety data at one of the trial sites.
