The trade group for UK-based drugmakers, the Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry (ABPI), has appointed vice president Susan Rienow to the role of president.
In her industry role, Ms Rienow is president of Pfizer’s UK business. She previously led Pfizer UK’s vaccines business unit, during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Ms Rienow said the UK government had “set out a bold ambition to be a science superpower,” adding “I believe that the industry and government can drive this agenda together to deliver long term economic growth.”
She said: “Our industry is developing a new generation of medicines and vaccines, and I look forward to working with colleagues across the industry, government and the NHS to ensure these can help transform the lives of people across the country.”
