BRIEF—GSK Japan appoints new president

The Japanese business of GlaxoSmithKline has appointed Paul Lirette as its new president, subject to the board’s approval.

Mr Lirette has worked for the group’s Canadian business since 2001, taking up the presidency there in 2012.

Mr Lirette’s appointment follows the unexpected retirement of Kanako Kikuchi, who was appointed only 9 months ago, for personal reasons.
