BlueCross BlueShield, one of the USA’s largest insurers, will stop covering Purdue Pharma’s OxyContin (oxycodone) in the US state of Tennessee, citing the goal of combating opioid addiction.
The company will instead cover abuse-deterrent formulations Xtampza (oxycodone) and Morphabond (morphine sulfate).
BlueCross is by far the largest insurer in the state, covering over two-thirds of those with insurance.
