Bayer names new head of its pharmaceuticals business in the Americas region

German pharma and crop science major Bayer (BAYN: DE) today announced the appointment of Dr Carsten Brunn as president of its pharmaceuticals business in the Americas, comprising the USA, Canada, Central and Latin America.

In this role, Dr Brunn will report to Dieter Weinand, a member of the board of management of Bayer AG and president of the Pharmaceutical division.

Previously, Dr Brunn was head of Bayer's pharmaceuticals commercial operations in Japan, a role he held since 2013. He served as the chairman of European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations (EFPIA) Japan, an organization representing 24 R&D-based innovative pharmaceutical companies in Japan. He joined Bayer in 2011 as global head of primary care based in Beijing, China. Prior to joining Bayer, Dr Brunn held a number of senior leadership roles at companies including Eli Lilly, Novartis, and Bausch & Lomb in Europe, Asia, and the USA.
