Australian government gives A$54.5 to diabetes research

The Australian government is to hand over A$54.5 million ($39.3 million) for research into type 1 diabetes.

In funding to be provided through the Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF), some A$25 million will go to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) Australia to advance its Type 1 Diabetes Clinical Research Network.

An additional A$4.5 million in funding will be provided to JDRF Australia over three years to further assist with the strategic vision and national leadership of the research network.
