AstraZeneca drops daily option in favor of weekly GLP-1 agonist

As interest in  GLP-1 agonists soars, AstraZeneca (LSE: AZN) has changed tack, stopping work on a daily injectable option in order to focus on an alternative which requires less regular jabs.

The British firm had been testing cotadutide in a Phase IIb/III study for the treatment of non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), among other indications.

Instead, the company will take forward AZD9550, another GLP-1/glucagon co-agonist, as part of its broader pipeline of NASH candidates.
