Approval of migraine nasal spray hands Pfizer another first

Pfizer (NYSE: PFE) has achieved another regulatory breakthrough, a couple of years on from jointly launching the first mRNA vaccine to reach the market.

This time the US pharma giant has won US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval for Zavzpret (zavegepant), the first and only calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) receptor antagonist nasal spray for the acute treatment of migraine with or without aura in adults.

The approval expands Pfizer’s migraine portfolio, which includes an oral therapy for both acute and preventive treatment.
