Northern Ireland's Almac Group has announces a $65 million, 100,000 ft2 expansion of its clinical supply operations at the company’s North American headquarters in Pennsylvania, USA.

The contract development and manufacturing organization's expansion will begin in early 2023 and will increase the facility's clinical capacity by 60%, with additional cold and ultra-low storage and just-in-time processing capabilities. This will support the forecasted industry trend towards biologics and advanced therapeutic medicinal products.

Robert Dunlop, president and managing director of Almac clinical services, said: “Drug development and clinical trials continue to evolve across the world, with sponsors expanding their pipelines to focus on biologics, vaccines and advanced therapy medicinal products. Almac is at the forefront of building supply chain expertise and capacity for this evolution.”

The announcement follows news that Almac's overall planned investment in its Pennsylvania operations will total $93.5 million over the next three years.
