USA-based Alkermes (Nasdaq: ALKS) “will be a dramatically different company, with a broad portfolio of diverse and significant commercial products and pipeline candidates to drive growth and profitability,” the firm stated at a meeting with investors and analysts in Boston, USA, yesterday.
Alkermes said that the acquisition of Ireland-based Elan Drug Technologies, announced earlier this year and expected to close in the third quarter (The Pharma Letter May 9), accelerates Alkermes’ strategy to build a sustainably profitable biopharmaceutical company with expertise in developing treatments for central nervous system (CNS) diseases and a broad, diversified portfolio of products and pipeline candidates.
