With Prime Minister Narendra Modi granting permanent member status to the African Union within the Group of 20 top world economies, the stage is set to create a significant impact on the healthcare landscape in the African region.

The African Union could advocate for policies and actions within the G20 that promote global health equity, which could involve pushing for fair access to vaccines and medicines and addressing health inequalities.
