Affordable drugs 'do' lead to better outcomes, says charity worker

In our weekly expert view piece Saoirse Fitzpatrick, advocacy officer at British health charity  StopAids responds to claims made by AstraZeneca chief executive Pascale Soriot claims that there is ‘no point giving free cancer drugs to Africa'.

Mr Soriot said, during an interview with the BBC, that improving Africa’s health infrastructure should take priority over giving away free medicine, which ‘would make no difference.’

‘There’s no point giving free cancer drugs to Africa’ a shocking headline, but not surprising when you realise it is propagated by the CEO of a BIG PHARMA company.
