AbbVie targets HotSpot for future growth in immunology

A new collaboration in autoimmune disorders has been launched between Chicago, USA-based AbbVie (NYSE: ABBV) and another American company, HotSpot Therapeutics.

The firms will work together to try to develop what could become a new target class of modulators for severe autoimmune diseases.

The attraction for AbbVie, a leader in this therapy area and the developer of the world’s best-selling immunological product, Humira (adalimumab), is HotSpot's novel platform, which targets naturally occurring pockets on proteins called "natural hotspots."
